Job Title:
NPI Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- 4 plus years of experience in manufacturing, process development, or new product introduction (NPI)
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers in a high-mix, low- to mid-volume production environment
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., Solid Works, Creo) and engineering documentation systems (e.g., PLM tools like Agile, Windchill)
- Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and ability to lead design reviews with cross-functional teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA)
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Master's degree in a related engineering or technical discipline
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
- Experience launching hardware products in a regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics)
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP)
- Hands-on experience supporting production line setups, validations (IQ/OQ/PQ), and ramp-ups
- Work closely with design, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth product introductions
- Design, validate, and implement new manufacturing processes, tooling, and test fixtures
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers (CMs) and suppliers to develop and optimize custom parts and production processes
- Prepare documentation such as bills of materials (BOMs), control plans, and work instructions, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Conduct design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews, evaluate risks, and implement mitigation strategies throughout the product lifecycle
- Drive continuous improvement activities, analyze production performance metrics, and provide technical support to the manufacturing floo
This is a Permanent position based out of Greensboro, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $71000.00 - $118000.00/yr.
