GM Performance Power Units LLC is seeking a Material Coordinator to support the development of our Formula 1 Power Unit, specifically the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Energy Recovery System (ERS). Based at the GMPPU facility in Concord, this role works closely with the Project Manager to ensure the timely availability and optimal utilization of parts to support build, testing, and race operations.
Acting as the primary interface between Project Management, Warehouse, Assembly, and Supply Chain, the Material Coordinator proactively identifies and resolves component availability issues to maintain the agreed build and test schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor the availability of parts to achieve the agreed ICE/ERS build timing and specification.
- Lead component allocation reviews to proactively identify and mitigate shortages.
- Adjust ICE/ERS build specifications based on component availability, including allocation of used parts in close collaboration with Testing, Engineering and Design.
- Allocate used parts to ICE/ERS assemblies in line with component validation planning.
- Support resolution of component shortages (alternative specifications, rework of previous-spec components, verification of quarantined stock, assessment of used-part availability, etc.)
- Create detailed work orders within the ERP system for the kitting and build of each ICE/ERS assembly, ensuring the agreed specification is built on time.
- Generate and communicate summaries of component availability risks to the Operations team.
- Monitor and report the over consumption of components versus forecast.
- Ensure spare part availability for Grand Prix events in line with the agreed allocation and reported usage.
- Collaborate closely with Logistics to ensure timely shipment of parts for Grand Prix events.
- Strong understanding of engine or high voltage components and systems, including specifications, mileage limits, and technical constraints.
- Experience with Supply Chain Management including monitoring component usage, managing allocations, anticipating shortages, and supporting replenishment decisions.
- Proficient in ERP system usage, including work order creation and leveraging MRP tools to plan, control, and optimize material availability.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to manage interfaces, resolve conflicts, and assertively represent operational objectives.
