Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Department of Applied Engineering Technology (AET) in the College of Science and Technology at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in Automotive Technology, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related field, beginning August 2026. The position is anticipated at the Assistant Professor level; however, exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for appointment at a higher rank.
We seek applicants who can establish a collaborative and innovative research program in areas such as electric and hybrid vehicle systems, artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles, advanced vehicle efficiency and sustainability, smart manufacturing, and human-machine interaction.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and scholarly achievement. Responsibilities include teaching Applied Engineering Technology and Automotive/Motorsports Technology courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, developing new curricula, supervising student research, and contributing service to the University and broader community.
The ideal candidate will develop and maintain a productive, externally funded research program in automotive engineering and technology; publish peer-reviewed scholarship; and supervise graduate students in the Technology Management (M.S.) and Applied Science and Technology (Ph.D.) programs. Mentoring undergraduate researchers is also expected, as student research engagement is a key component of the AET curriculum.
Candidates whose teaching, research, and service contribute to the mission of the Applied Engineering Technology Department and align with the strategic priorities of the College of Science and Technology and the University are highly desirable. Active collaboration with colleagues across the sciences, mathematics, and technology disciplines is strongly encouraged.
