Engineering roles perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments. They may design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and test manufactured products to maintain quality. They may plan, design, and estimate time and cost and oversee construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. They analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures.

They develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues within the engineering field.

Engineering - Multidiscipline personnel typically manage a multidiscipline group of engineers. Responsibilities are within the Engineering Function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.

This posting is for a manager position in F-Area Engineering, within the Facility and System Engineering group, overseeing a team of design authority engineers. This position provides technical oversight and engineering support for the F/H Laboratory, 235-F, and F-Canyon facilities. This includes managing engineering programs, schedules, budget, personnel, and equipment to support deactivation of the F-Area Complex facilities, and to ensure safe, efficient operation of these nuclear facilities.

Responsibilities also include control of the technical baseline through approval authority of procedures, technical reports, engineering calculations and design modifications.

• F-Area Engineering serves as the facility engineering interface with projects, Nuclear and Criticality Safety Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and with external groups such as the Department of Energy (DOE) and Defense Nuclear Facility Safety Board (DNFSB). This position must ensure work is performed in compliance with Manual E7, Conduct of Engineering, along with other applicable Engineering codes and standards.
• This position must also serve as the primary interface for the Documented Safety Analysis for Interim Operations (DSAIO), Basis for Interim Operations (BIO), and Technical Surveillance requirements (TSR) to resolve implementation issues raised which impact facility safety or schedule.
• The primary responsibility is to perform and manage the Design Authority role for the facility. This entails many specific duties including:
  Monitor operations to ensure nuclear facility safety is maintained, and that activities are performed in accordance with industrial safety, process safety, engineering, environmental and quality requirements.
