Job Description & How to Apply Below

Position Overview

Step into a state-of-the-art research and development organization dedicated to delivering high-tech transportation solutions to the North American market. As a Simulation and Analysis Engineer
, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of commercial transit across multiple platforms, working directly on Diesel, Natural Gas, and Battery Electric Trucks
.

In this role, you will analyze complex thermo-mechanical systems, run full-vehicle simulations, and act as a technical leader. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams—including Chassis, Cab, Electrical, and Testing—as well as Product Design to optimize exterior surfaces and ensure strict functional and cooling requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities CFD Simulation & Thermal Management
  • Advanced Simulations:
Conduct comprehensive CFD analyses of individual components, sub-systems (e.g., heat exchangers, exhaust systems, air intake systems), and full-vehicle under-hood thermal simulations.
  • Vehicle Aerodynamics:
Interface directly with the Product Design team to evaluate exterior surfaces, providing crucial feedback to improve airflow characteristics and minimize drag.
  • Methodology & Validation:
Perform validation studies comparing CFD results to experimental data, collaborating with global technical strategy teams to continually improve simulation workflows.
Technical Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Design Optimization:
Post-process and analyze simulation results to write engineering reports and deliver actionable design recommendations that identify, rectify, and prevent potential flaws.
  • Testing Alignment:
Partner with testing and project teams to develop test plans, establish instrumentation roadmaps, and interpret physical test data to anchor your models.
  • Project Ownership:
Drive design solutions from the concept stage all the way to final production, maintaining total ownership of the analysis until an acceptable outcome is achieved for all stakeholders.
Education & Experience
  • Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). A proven track record of validating and optimizing vehicle designs through CAE simulation tools is required.
  • Industry Focus:
Direct experience in automotive cooling airflow, thermal management, and aerodynamics is highly desirable.
Technical Skills & Software Expertise
  • CFD & Thermal Software: 5+ years of hands‑on experience with commercial CFD software such as PowerFLOW, Star-CCM+, or Fluent, alongside thermal analysis tools like TAITherm.
  • Pre-Processing:
Strong geometry cleanup skills using commercial CAE pre-processing software (e.g., ANSA, Hyper Mesh) to build fully detailed, complex CFD models.
  • 1D Simulation (Plus):
Familiarity with 1D simulation tools (e.g., GT-SUITE, KULI, Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink) for flow calculations, particularly running coupled 1D/CFD co-simulations, is a strong advantage.
  • Infrastructure:
Highly experienced working within a Linux OS environment and utilizing HPC (High-Performance Computing) systems to submit and monitor large-scale CAE jobs. Shell/Linux scripting skills for automation are a plus.
  • Testing Knowledge:
Practical, hands‑on experience with validation, experimental measurements, and Design of Experiments (DoE).
Core Engineering Fundamentals
  • Deep, fundamental understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Strong synthesis skills—the ability to take data from simulation, testing, and historical resources to form clear, actionable corporate recommendations.
