The Applications Engineer is responsible for understanding field applications, systems design, and customer product development and enhancement. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, supporting engineered solutions, and providing technical direction throughout the product and project lifecycle. The position also performs market needs analysis, collaborates with cross‑functional teams on product development initiatives, and leads technical projects with key customers.

A key aspect of the role is ensuring engineered solutions meet applicable pressure vessel codes, ASME requirements, and customer‑specific technical standards. The Applications Engineer interprets technical documentation, evaluates design feasibility, and provides technical support throughout the quotation, order, and project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise on application and system solutions.
  • Adapt existing and new application solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop new or revised products based on customer needs.
  • Develop and deliver technical training for internal teams and customers.
  • Identify market opportunities for new applications and engineered solutions and communicate business cases to Engineering.
  • Work directly with customers to identify market needs and support new product development initiatives.
  • Provide application engineering support for products and systems involving pressure‑containing components, pressure vessels, and related assemblies.
  • Interpret and apply applicable ASME codes and standards to support compliant product selection and system configuration.
  • Support compliance activities related:
    • Testing requirements
    • Technical documentation packages
    • Certification and traceability requirements, as applicable
  • Maintain accurate technical records, quotation files, and application documentation.
  • Support cross‑functional teams throughout product development, validation, and commercialization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • 5–7 years of engineering, manufacturing, technical sales, or applications engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical understanding of pressure vessel requirements and applicable ASME standards affecting design, product selection, and documentation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives and support organizational change.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and develop recommendations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Working knowledge of applicable ASME standards, including:
    • ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
    • Pressure testing and inspection requirements
    • Materials and fabrication considerations for pressure‑containing equipment
    • Experience supporting engineered‑to‑order or configured product environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and customer teams.
