About the roleThe MBE Process Engineer is responsible for efficient and cost-effective process implementation and day-to-day engineering supervision of all assigned MBE reactors. They will provide engineering support for the MBE process and are responsible for material quality in order to minimize wafer loss and ensure all delivered material meets or exceeds customer expectations. The MBE engineer is responsible for planning, directing and implementing the technical aspects of process improvement, research and development programs.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute experiments in epitaxial growth (epitaxy), provide technical input, interpret results, and perform detailed analysis of IQE and customer process data.
- Apply advanced knowledge of epitaxy processes, including setting growth parameters, developing growth recipes, and optimizing material performance to meet product and customer specifications.
- Engage with customers and research institutions on technical matters related to epitaxy, materials development, and process optimization.
- Assist Engineering Management in establishing specifications for new epitaxy products and equipment, and collaborate with vendors on installation, qualification, and process validation of new systems.
- Prepare technical proposals and progress reports with a high level of proficiency for direct submission to external collaborators, customers, and research partners.
- Ensure assigned epitaxy reactors are operated in a safe, reliable, and cost-efficient manner consistent with operational and business objectives.
- Review and interpret growth and characterization data, identify trends, and direct process adjustments in accordance with standard operating procedures and product specifications.
- Troubleshoot material and epitaxy-related process issues, and work closely with maintenance personnel to diagnose equipment problems and facilitate efficient repairs and minimal downtime.
Experience Requirements for the Process Engineer:
- Advanced experience in Process Engineering or equivalent manufacturing field.
- 7+ Years experience in Process Engineering or equivalent combination of education, experience and/or knowledge is desirable.
- Reactor (MBE) process knowledge.
- Must have experience with SPC and recipe editing. Experience with reactor maintenance is a plus
Qualification Requirements for the Process Engineer:
- Qualification or 2-Year/Associate’s technical degree in Engineering or equivalent, physics, materials science, or related technical field. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
