Senior Accountant (Financial Reporting, AP/AR)

The Senior Accountant partners with the Director of Finance to deliver insightful financial analysis
, support monthly close
, and help prepare financial statements
. This role develops and owns key financial reporting, strengthens internal controls, and provides actionable insights to leadership, purchasing, and production/floor supervisors. You will also supervise AP/AR operations
, ensuring timely payments, billing, and collections.
- Develop and own financial reporting packages that drive fact-based decision-making.
- Provide timely financial analysis and critical reporting to senior leadership, purchasing, and operations supervisors.
- Assist with budgets and forecasts
; support cost accounting procedure development
- Prepare and manage journal entries
, reconciliations, and support monthly/annual closing
. - Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with official guidelines and requirements.
- Direct Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
, ensuring: - Vendors are paid per agreed terms.
- Customer billing and payments are processed and collected timely.
- Manage past-due A/R collections and oversee returns/credit memo preparation.
- Oversee WAWF invoice entry and collections (government invoicing experience strongly valued).
- Direct Ramp credit card and payment management processes.
- Assist with development/maintenance of internal controls and accounting policies aligned to legislation and best practices.
- Drive report development for management or regulatory bodies, including NIB reporting support.
- Oversee NC Sales & Use tax and other required governmental filings.
- Utilize accounting/ERP systems to maintain records and facilitate efficient processes.
Skills & Qualifications Technical & Accounting Expertise
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting regulations/best practices.
- Experience with AP/AR in an ERP environment
; familiarity with SAP or Sage X3 is a plus. - Strong understanding of financial processes:
budgeting, close, reporting, reconciliations
.
- Excellent data analysis
, forecasting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. - Highly organized with keen attention to detail; strong time management and prioritization.
- Preferred
Experience with
Power BI or IBM Cognos Analytics
. - Experience supporting government customers and processes (e.g., WAWF).
- Experience in manufacturing
, distribution
, or inventory-focused environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
- Master’s in Accountancy preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting/finance experience required.
- Proven experience as an Accountant, Financial Analyst, or similar role
