University Program Specialist

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T State University) seeks an experienced professional to manage accreditation and compliance for the University Police Department.

Position Overview

This role plays a key part in ensuring the Police Department meets and exceeds accreditation standards. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and managing accreditation compliance, developing policies and procedures, and supporting program evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and maintain compliance for accreditation readiness.
  • Develop systems and procedures aligned with national and state accreditation standards.
  • Review, initiate, and coordinate agency policies to meet compliance requirements.
  • Update the accreditation plan and assist in drafting directives.
  • Monitor accreditation trends and advise leadership on changes.
  • Collaborate with police administration and Clery Act Compliance Coordinator.
  • Create and maintain department manuals and supplemental orders.
  • Collect, organize, and document evidence of compliance.
  • Plan and support preliminary and on‑site assessments, including assessor tours.
  • Maintain comprehensive files documenting compliance with state and national standards.
  • Handle sensitive matters with diplomacy and confidentiality.
Required Competencies
  • Professional Knowledge in police accreditation and Clery Act compliance.
  • Program/Project Administration: analyze and implement policy changes.
  • Communication: develop training, liaise with accrediting bodies, and produce written materials.
  • Information Analysis: manage crime data, produce monthly analysis reports, and assist in strategic decision making.
  • Consultation: work cross‑functionally to enforce Clery requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of related experience; equivalent training and experience acceptable.
  • Preferable background in law enforcement, policy development, grant writing, crime trend analysis, or program evaluation.
  • Strong knowledge of university police policies and operational procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and related software.
Work Hours

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This position is on‑site.
