Work Schedule

Monday - Friday; up to 20-30 hours per week (not to exceed 999 hrs. in a year) (some Saturdays may be required)

  • Hourly Employment
    :
    Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
  • Limited Hours
    :
    Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
  • Pension System
    :
    Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

Brief Description of Work

The Code Compliance Inspector is a part-time, non-benefited position. This position is the first responder to investigate nuisance complaints (overgrown lots, junked/ abandoned motor vehicles, front yard parking, right-of-way obstructions, etc.) . The Code Compliance Inspector performs field inspections (to determine if there are violations of City ordinances) and follow-up activities within the City to ensure compliance with the City's nuisance ordinances and may perform administrative functions related to the Code Compliance program.

The responsibilities of this position also include functions of the Community Tool Lending program which include but are not limited to maintenance of the community tool trailers; distribution and return of tool rentals. Attend community events.

The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid NC Driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual
  • Experience enforcing codes, Homeowners Association (HOA) rules, laws, or ordinances
  • International Code Council or International Property Maintenance Code Certification
