Summary
This position is located in the DEA, Atlanta Field Division and Greensboro Resident Office.
Primary PurposeThis position serves as a Registration Program Specialist (RPS), which provides a key resource at the state and national levels in accordance with the states jurisdictions for all registration applicants authorized to manufacture, distribute, and prescribe controlled substances in accordance with the Controlled Substance Act (CSA).
Typical Work Assignments- Serving as the registration representative and sole point of contact for the license registration program in a geographic region.
- Reviewing all registration transactions to verify the internal control process has been followed, such as examining all registration transactions and rejecting those not completed in compliance with agency standards and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Maintaining liaison by phone and correspondence with state licensing boards and registration agencies.
- Conducting presentations and training sessions about DEA's Registration Program and process to the registrant community.
- Answering questions about a wide variety of registration requirements, procedures, and problems.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Employment is subject to the successful completion of a background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
- Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Selective Service:
Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
Applicants applying for the GS-09 must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 level, including paid, unpaid, or volunteer work. Experience must demonstrate preparation of reports and correspondence, interpretation and advising on regulations, analysis of information, and identification and resolution of issues.
- Education:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full academic years of graduate‑level education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B or J.D. degree if related. - Combination of education and experience: compute percentage of qualifying experience and graduate education; total must equal at least 100%.
Applicants applying for the GS-11 must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 level, including paid, unpaid, or volunteer work. Experience must include analyzing criminal history reports, conducting presentations or training sessions, preparing written materials, and advising on regulations.
- Education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or three full years of progressively higher graduate education; or LL.M. if related. - Combination of education and experience: compute percentage; must equal at least 100%.
