Position OverviewPrimary Purpose of Position: The developing Physician Assistant (PA) Program at North Carolina A&T State University is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor to teach, research, advising, admissions, and perform other responsibilities as delegated by the Program Director. This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track position that reports to the Program Director.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of master's level Physician Assistant (PA) students. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and engage in program assessment accreditation-related procedures. The ideal candidate will be expected to (i) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in curriculum development, instruction, and/or course coordination in the didactic and/or clinical phase of the program;
(ii) be effective in course design, delivery, and evaluation; (iii) supervise and support PA students in independent research projects; (iv) produce an excellent record of scholarly publications; (v) provide service to the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, the college and university as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations.

The Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences comprises six departments and the School of Nursing, offering multiple undergraduate and graduate programs including MSPA, MSW, and others.
The department supports accreditation and admissions efforts and aims to prepare students to become competent Physician Assistants and promote interdisciplinary team-based care.
The Department of Physician Assistant Studies supports accreditation preparation and program growth, contributing to accessible healthcare through its PA program and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
Minimum Requirements- Master's Degree (Doctorate preferred)
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written)
- High degree of organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and distinguish among competitive applicants
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated presentation skills
- Evidence of program planning and management skills
- A PhD, EdD, DHSc, or professional doctorate in a related field with a demonstrated record of research
- Ability to establish and sustain a strong research enterprise, and have pedagogical skills to teach in relevant scientific areas
- 5+ years of experience in higher education
- 5+ years of clinical experience
- Graduate from an accredited PA program
- Eligible for PA licensure in North Carolina
- Current NCCPA certification
