Job Summary
Cardiac Sonographer Registered Outpatient II performs cardiac ultrasound procedures under supervision of the department supervisor. The position delivers exceptional customer service through prioritization of patient safety, preferences, and effective communication. The role partners with patients, families, colleagues, and external stakeholders to deliver accurate cardiac diagnostics, patient-centered care, and optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities- Performs routine and special exams consistent with established protocols with good diagnostic quality.
- Analyzes test data and accurately communicates findings to reading cardiologists to aid in proper diagnosis and treatment planning and ensure seamless collaboration between the sonographer and cardiologists.
- Operates, troubleshoots, and requests repair of all testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results and promote patient safety and efficient workflow.
- Maintains professional and CPR certification to adhere to industry standards and ensure readiness to respond to any cardiac emergencies that may arise.
- Performs IV insertion and maintains IV competency skills on an annual basis.
- Administers image enhancing agent as ordered to optimize quality of echocardiogram.
- Must complete 4 advanced activities as outlined by departmental career ladder.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required:
3 years of experience
Licensure Section:
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular credentialing International (CCI); BLS (CPR)- American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare provider. Meets 4 of the Career Ladder requirements as outlined by departmental career ladder.
