The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Hospital Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Consultation Liaison provides expert clinical leadership and consultancy to support the assessment and management of patients with substance-related conditions across acute and inpatient mental health settings at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and community AOD services, the CNC delivers evidence-based, person-centred care and supports coordinated referral and discharge pathways.

The role strengthens service delivery through leadership in service planning, workforce development and evidence-informed practice, improving patient outcomes and reducing preventable readmissions.

As The CNC – Hospital AOD Consultation Liaison, You Will
  • Provide expert clinical consultancy and leadership across acute hospital, inpatient mental health and community AOD settings
  • Deliver and promote evidence-based, person-centred care for patients with complex substance-related presentations
  • Lead and support service development, quality improvement initiatives and implementation of best-practice models of care
  • Build workforce capability through education, mentoring, clinical supervision and consultation
  • Contribute to research, evaluation and dissemination of evidence to inform clinical practice
  • Support integrated care pathways, including referral and discharge planning across hospital and community services

About You
  • Minimum 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, including at least 3 years postgraduate experience in alcohol and other drug specialty
  • Postgraduate nursing qualifications relevant to alcohol and other drugs
  • A strong understanding of the five Clinical Nurse Consultant domains
  • Excellent communication, leadership and consultancy skills
  • Commitment to continuous learning, consumer-centred care, evidence-based practise, research and service improvement.
