Regional Dietary Manager – State Veterans Homes
STGi is seeking qualified candidates for this position in connection with an active Request for Proposals (RFP). Hiring for this role is contingent upon STGi’s selection as the successful awardee.
JOB SUMMARYThe Regional Dietary Manager provides leadership and oversight of food service and nutrition operations across multiple long-term care facilities within an assigned region. This role ensures high-quality, resident-centered dining services, regulatory compliance, food safety, and consistent implementation of organizational standards while supporting facility dietary managers and interdisciplinary teams. Travel is required and is extensive throughout assigned region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Nutrition & Food Service Operations- Oversee dietary and food service operations across multiple long-term care facilities
- Ensure meals meet residents’ nutritional needs, preferences, cultural considerations, and physician-ordered diets
- Promote resident-centered dining and quality of life initiatives
- Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control, and service standards
- Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, state health department requirements, and applicable F-Tags
- Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP, Serv Safe, and infection prevention protocols
- Support survey readiness, mock surveys, and corrective action plans related to dietary services
- Provide coaching, support, and oversight to facility Dietary Managers and food service staff
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Promote ongoing education related to nutrition, food safety, and resident-centered care
- Monitor food and supply costs; support budget development and cost containment strategies
- Review purchasing practices, inventory controls, and vendor utilization
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining quality
- Support menu planning to ensure nutritional adequacy, variety, and compliance with regulations
- Review modified diets, therapeutic menus, and texture-modified foods
- Analyze satisfaction data, grievances, and quality metrics to drive improvements
- Partner with Administrators, Nursing, Speech Therapy, Dietitians, and Infection Prevention teams
- Participate in QAPI, IDT, and care planning meetings as appropriate
- Serve as a regional resource for dietary operations and issue resolution
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
- Serv Safe certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
- Minimum 3–5 years of dietary management experience in long-term care or healthcare settings
- Strong knowledge of CMS dietary regulations, food safety standards, and infection prevention
- Ability to travel regularly within assigned region
- Prior regional or multi-facility dietary leadership experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, or related field
- Experience with resident-centered dining and culture change initiatives
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Attention to detail and regulatory compliance
- Effective communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage multiple facilities and priorities
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
