Phlebotomist II

Summary

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble‑shooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

• Performing blood draws (venipuncture), labeling specimens, and other collection procedures.
• Centrifuging, splitting, freezing, and packaging specimens per test orders.
• Recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.
• Matching and verifying laboratory requisition forms and computer labels against physician orders.
• Explaining the venipuncture process in a courteous, clear manner to patients and other specimen collection.
• Demonstrating use of straight and/or butterfly needles.
• Maintaining specimen integrity by storing samples at required temperatures in appropriate containers.
• Understanding and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attending annual department trainings.
• Answering telephone calls and reviewing laboratory results to respond to inquiries.

• Valid state phlebotomy certification (if required).
• Minimum 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High‑school diploma or GED, or 2–4 years of related experience.

Floating position in Greensboro, 14 accounts, working at a PSC but covering if someone calls out or has time off – home base is 3610 North Elm Street Greensboro PSC.
