Position Summary

Provide counseling and psychological services to UNCG students, including group counseling, workshops, individual counseling, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and outreach programs.

Responsibilities
  • Group counseling and/or workshops to address students’ mental and emotional health needs.
  • Short term individual counseling and psychotherapy in the areas of personal and educational difficulties, social conflicts, significant adjustment problems, and mental and emotional disorders, including initial assessments and crisis intervention.
  • Diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders.
  • Clinical collaboration, consultation, and documentation.
  • Clinical Consultation and Outreach Programs addressing developmental issues and mental and emotional needs.
  • Training of practicum/intern graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • An earned Master of Social Work or Master of Counseling degree.
  • A license required to practice counseling (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor) or social work (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).
  • Proficiency in providing clinical mental health treatment to culturally diverse, underrepresented and/or underserved populations.
  • Understanding and application of intersectionality of identity and mental health.
  • Proficiency with DSM‑5.
  • Ability to work effectively with young adults.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in delivering mental health interventions via individual and group/workshop modalities.
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, And Certificates

An earned Master of Social Work or Master of Counseling degree. North Carolina license required to practice counseling (LCMHC/LCMHCA) or social work (LCSWA/LCSW).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Counseling experience in a college counseling center.
  • Ability to facilitate therapy in Spanish and English.
