Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of U.S. and Canadian payroll while partnering with the People, Operations, and Administration (POA) team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring payroll compliance. The ideal candidate has experience processing Canadian and US payroll, is detail-oriented and highly organized, and is comfortable balancing payroll responsibilities with tactical HR projects.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration (U.S. & Canada)

* Process bi-weekly and/or ad-hoc payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees accurately and on schedule

* Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll regulations

* Manage payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, compensation updates, deductions, and garnishments

* Coordinate payroll tax filings, year-end processing (W-2s, T4s), and audits as required

* Partner with Finance and POA to reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies

* Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner

* Experienced in filing Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Employer Health Tax (EHT), Relevé 1 for Quebec, and T2200 forms in Canada.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* 3+ years of payroll administrative experience

* Hands-on experience processing U.S. payroll;
Canadian payroll experience required

* Working knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll laws, taxes, and compliance requirements

* Strong organizational skills with experience managing physical and digital Payroll files

* High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality

* Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG, Isolved, Pay Works, Payfluence, Ceridian, Quota Path, or similar)

* Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Payroll certification (CPP, PCP, or equivalent)

* Experience supporting multi-state U.S. payroll

Work Environment

* On-site role based in the Greensboro, NC office

* Regular interaction with HR, Finance, and employees across the U.S. and Canada

* Hands-on work involving both digital systems and physical file management

Compliance & Controls

* Audit findings:
Zero material audit findings related to payroll records

* Tax and filing compliance: 100% on-time payroll tax filings (U.S. and Canada)

Operational Efficiency

* Process improvement initiatives:
At least 2 documented payroll improvements annually
