Position Summary:

The Audio-Visual Specialist is responsible for configuring, installing, supporting, and maintaining audio-visual (AV) and digital media systems. Additional responsibilities include managing special A/V projects, training employees on a variety of software and systems and administering video and web conferencing systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer & maintain all classroom and meeting space AV systems.
  • Provide training and support on web conferencing system use.
  • Provide training and operational support for faculty, staff, students, and guests in the use of classroom & meeting space AV systems.
  • Documentation and Communication:
    • Create and maintain documentation for AV systems.
    • Updates university IT systems support information and data to ensure access to accurate and timely information.
    • Works directly with vendors to resolve problems with products and services.
    • Create documentation for the Classroom Support/ITS Internal knowledge bases.
  • Set up, configure, and test AV equipment for special events
  • Collaborate with IT professionals across campus to resolve issues.
  • Ensure AV issues and support tickets are promptly addressed, documented, and resolved in a timely and professional manner consistent with the highest customer service and professional/technical standards.
  • Assist with configuration and installation of desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and associated peripherals for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assist with support for desktop applications.
  • Recommend appropriate, fiscally responsible ideas and purchases related to AV systems.
  • Supervise student workers.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, Title IX, Information Security, HIPAA, FERPA, and other state and federal mandates.
Education/

Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in supporting audio-visual systems
  • Preference will be given to candidates with current AV related certification
  • Experience in the higher education or non-profit sector is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge in the operation and troubleshooting of audio, video, audio-visual, display control systems, and computer equipment.
  • Understanding of AV cabling and equipment connections.
  • Must be able to transport camera equipment (cameras, tripods, lights, etc.) across venues and campus
  • Knowledge of video and web conferencing systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet.
  • Comprehensive computer knowledge and skills.
  • Communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
  • Work independently, as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.
  • Ability to be flexible with schedule including nights, weekends and some early mornings.
  • Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.
  • Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment.
