Job Summary
Net App’s Instaclustr offering provides open‑source as‑a‑service, delivering reliability a Tech Ops Engineer you will be part of the Tech Ops team that maintains and supports a large fleet of cloud‑hosted Apache Cassandra, Kafka, Open Search and other open‑source technology clusters. Your day‑to‑day work will involve fleet management, customer support, operations and incident response, collaborating with Product Management, Development Teams and Customer Success to shape and improve customer support.
EssentialFunctions
- Provide expert operational support to cloud nodes (AWS, Azure, GCP) using Unix/Linux (CoreOS, Ubuntu), Docker, Java, Python and bash.
- Respond to customer queries and incidents, diagnosing and solving complex technical issues and communicating effectively with customers’ engineers on Cassandra, Kafka, Elastic Search, Redis and other supported technologies.
- Investigate issues and apply standard change and maintenance procedures to optimize performance and stability of production systems.
- Undertake complex cluster operations such as migrations, upgrades and maintenance on the fleet.
- Develop and continually improve internal automation tools, applications, documentation, processes and procedures.
- Serve as a proactive, reliable member of the Tech Ops team and participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Unix/Linux, comfortable working from the command line.
- Good fundamental computer science/software engineering skills, especially operating system internals, resource management and networking.
- Experience working with databases and/or open‑source technologies in a support role, handling production tasks, performance tuning.
- Programming skills in Python, bash scripting, SQL and source code control with Git.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Passion for IT, especially open source.
- Customer service experience is favorable.
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Target salary range: 104,550 – 156,200
USD, adjusted for location, qualifications, experience and education. Packages are competitive and include a comprehensive benefits package such as health insurance, life insurance, retirement or pension plans, paid time off, performance‑based incentives, employee stock purchase plans and/or restricted stocks (RSU).
