Overview
System Administrator
- Engineering Computing. This role is responsible for maintaining the College of Engineering computing infrastructure and providing technical support for desktop systems, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), IoT devices, and networking. The administrator will ensure reliable operation, document processes, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement solutions that support the college’s mission.
- Maintain and support computing infrastructure for the College of Engineering, including desktops, VDI, IoT devices, and networking components.
- Provide technical support for faculty, staff, and students; install, test, code, debug, and manage applications, servers, and infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain documentation; work with stakeholders to implement solutions that meet the college’s needs.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security, reliability, and performance of technology services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 3 years experience in a technical support role (Windows, Linux and/or macOS)
- Experience with IoT devices
- 5 years experience in a technical support role (Windows, Linux and/or macOS) in an academic or commercial environment
- Experience with software development life cycles and project management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
This position may be eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements, consistent with university and state policies. Employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of the assigned duty station.
