Position Summary

The Business Analyst for Enrollment Management will lead day-to-day development of business and functional requirements for technical work, primarily supporting student success and enrollment management initiatives. The role documents and revises existing business processes for efficiency and technology alignment, working with staff, architects, developers, and vendors to qualify and shape work requests, and assist in testing and review of technical solutions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Mid-career with Master’s and 1–2 years experience or Bachelor’s and 2–4 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ECBA, CCBA, or CBAP certification (or equivalent) strongly desired.
  • Experience with student modules in Ellucian Banner (or other SIS system) strongly desired.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications – especially Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint.
  • Experience working independently and in groups.
  • Familiarity with Service Now, Google Docs, Teams.
Responsibilities

Functional Area

Process Support (45%)
  • Act as liaison between platform teams, functional area staff, and vendor representatives.
  • Consult with functional area staff recommending supported technology that can be applied to area business needs.
  • Coordinate meetings between technical and functional area resources to scope work.
  • Assist functional area staff in making technology requests through the appropriate channels (support, self-service, work request).
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of the strategic roadmap representing functional area business needs.
  • Work with functional area leadership to identify initiatives that require technology resources so that they can be qualified and prioritized.
  • Maintain data in Enrollment Management portfolio used to generate the area roadmap.
  • Assist Enrollment Management staff in establishing and documenting area processes.
  • Collect and organize area business process documentation.
  • Identify missing or low-maturity technology-dependent business processes and make recommendations for process improvements.
Demand Qualification and Shaping (30%)
  • Perform discovery, fact-finding, and current state analysis needed to qualify work requests.
  • Create impact analysis.
  • Document functional/ business requirements.
  • Collect technical requirements.
  • Assess and record risk, impact, and size of effort.
  • Demonstrate competency handling discovery for work requests of large complexity, cost, priority, and strategic importance.
  • Create cost and resource plans for work requests.
  • Research resource roles needed for technical tasks.
  • Identify additional funding needed for purchase of additional assets (software, hardware).
  • Guide additional asset purchases through appropriate review and approval processes (pre-purchase review, security review, etc.).
  • Route work to technical platform team backlogs or to Enrollment Management portfolio group for project prioritization.
  • Identify type of work based on qualifying criteria (feasibility, alignment, complexity, scope of impact, cost).
  • Assist in the creation of detailed work breakdowns.
  • Create project tasks in consultation with project managers.
  • Create agile stories in consultation with technical team leads.
Project Process Support (20%)
  • Write test plans and test cases.
  • Identify and document functional area processes associated with systems changes.
  • Identify and document technical dependencies.
  • Contribute to testing process and overall strategy.
  • Coordinate with technical teams and functional areas to confirm completion of test plans.
  • Assist with execution of test plans, user acceptance testing, and quality reviews.
  • Assess effectiveness of testing process and identify and implement improvements.
