IT Applications Engineer VI, Container Platform Engineering Lead

Kaiser Permanente seeks an IT Applications Engineer VI, Container Platform Engineering Lead to drive the architecture, delivery, and operations of our enterprise container platforms. In this leadership role, you will design and optimize secure, scalable Kubernetes-based platforms, enabling teams to deliver resilient applications rapidly. You will develop automation, CI/CD integrations, and observability, while partnering with security and development teams to enforce standards.

You will guide platform strategy, mentor engineers, and lead incident management, ensuring high availability and performance for critical healthcare systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly available container platforms (Kubernetes/Open
• Shift) for enterprise applications.
• Establish standards, automation, and tooling for containerized application deployment and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with development, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and capacity planning for container platforms.
• Mentor engineers, define best practices, and contribute to long-term platform strategy and roadmaps.
