Description

The Buyer is responsible for managing the full procurement lifecycle, from sourcing products through part delivery, for the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) depot supporting an operational program at AAR in service of a government customer. This role includes resolving product and cost discrepancies, evaluating supplier performance, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. The Buyer ensures AAR receives the best overall value while building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.

Additionally, the Buyer ensures compliance with all applicable requirements, supports other procurement initiatives as needed, and actively identifies continuous improvement opportunities while performing all assigned duties.

  • Develop strong relationships with vendors to secure optimal services, value, and prices.
  • Expedite purchase orders.
  • Identify and improve inventory processes by reviewing and optimizing stock levels.
  • Understand market conditions and leverage AAR's volume in the marketplace.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Source, solicit, and negotiate pricing with qualified vendors for products and services to ensure the best overall value, while maintaining proper documentation and filing per CPSR requirements.
  • Analyze quotes and conduct source selection to determine the vendor(s) that provide the best value or lowest price, aligning with AAR’s operational requirements and policy and procedure requirements.
  • Prepare for internal and external audits and ensure all policies and procedures are followed to maintain the highest standard of quality and compliance.
  • Promote a team environment with a positive attitude.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.
Qualifications
  • Obtain a government CAC and a Secret Security Clearance as required.
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from a four‑year college or university; or eight years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred background in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
  • Aviation experience preferred.
  • Proficient PC skills (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Physical ability to lift, stand, bend, reach, and move within the facility as required.
  • Compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Candidates must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or individual admitted as a refugee or granted asylum).
