The Senior Purchasing Business Developer is responsible for leading purchasing execution and supplier readiness activities that support prototype builds, product introductions, and manufacturing launch milestones. This role coordinates cross-functional teams, suppliers, and purchasing stakeholders to identify risks, resolve supplier issues, and ensure materials are available to support build schedules. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in purchasing, supplier management, project execution, and crisis management within a manufacturing environment, with the ability to drive accountability and deliver results in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
Job Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end coordination of purchasing activities supporting prototype builds and product launch milestones.
- Monitor order status, supplier performance, and material availability to ensure build readiness.
- Establish and maintain consolidated build readiness reports, including project status, critical paths, risks, and key decision points.
- Identify supplier risks and lead crisis management activities, including root cause analysis, mitigation planning, and recovery efforts.
- Prioritize supplier issues and readiness gaps based on business impact and project timelines.
- Support cross-functional teams by coordinating execution plans, tracking action items, and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Prepare escalation summaries and decision-making materials for leadership and project teams.
- Define and maintain governance processes, reporting structures, escalation paths, and action tracking methodologies.
- Coordinate recurring risk, readiness, and supplier governance meetings, including agendas, meeting minutes, and follow-up actions.
- Collaborate with purchasing, supplier quality, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and program management teams to support successful product launches.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Develop transition plans and documentation to support operational continuity following project stabilization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in purchasing, supplier management, project management, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing supplier readiness, supplier escalations, or crisis management activities.
- Strong understanding of product development, project phases, and manufacturing launch processes.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders.
- Strong project management, planning, and execution skills.
- Experience leading root cause analysis, corrective actions, and recovery plans.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and manage competing deadlines.
- Ability to influence decisions and drive accountability across multiple functional areas.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining focus on business objectives.
- Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field required.
- Experience in purchasing, supplier management, or project management within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting product launches, prototype builds, or new product introduction activities.
- Experience managing supplier performance, supplier readiness, and escalation processes.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, logistics, and program management.
- Experience in crisis management, risk management, and supplier recovery planning preferred.
