Become a vital part of our Ambulatory Surgery Center team as a Surgical Navigation Nurse
, where you will guide elective surgery patients through the healthcare system with expertise, compassion, and clinical excellence. In this role, you will serve as a critical liaison between patients, families, surgeons, anesthesia, primary and consulting providers—ensuring that each individual receives the right care, at the right time, in the right setting. Essential

Functions
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care by partnering with patients, understanding their goals, and supporting them through the surgical process.
  • Review medical records and apply established criteria to determine appropriate procedures and care locations; collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Use strong clinical judgment and critical reasoning to expedite safe and appropriate care, including for patients with complex or potentially life‑threatening conditions.
  • Facilitate continuity of care through multidisciplinary collaboration, care coordination, and utilization of community resources; support patients through in-person and telecommunication encounters.
  • Apply ANA’s Code of Ethics and maintain professional excellence through competency development, lifelong learning, peer review, and shared governance participation.
  • Promote patient safety and high-quality care through assessment, patient education, advocacy, procedure performance, and system navigation.
  • Provide leadership by coordinating nursing services, ensuring appropriate staffing skill mix, and delegating responsibilities to licensed and unlicensed team members.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate nursing services in compliance with federal regulations, state laws, the nurse practice act, and institutional policies.
  • Contribute to team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuous professional development within the care team model.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively coordinate patient care, population management, and self‑management strategies.
Education & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience required.
  • Surgical patient care experience preferred.
Licensure, Certification, & Registration
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the applicable state required.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Wake One and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong ability to prepare and deliver program reports.
  • Expertise in assessing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
  • Ability to work independently, seek out resources, and collaborate effectively.
  • Capable of educating patients and families based on the nursing plan of care.
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.
  • Understanding of TJC (Joint Commission) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage responsibilities in a self‑directed environment.
