The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in providing compassionate and direct patient care within healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. This position focuses on supporting patients with their daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity at all times. The CNA works closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to monitor patient health and report any changes promptly.

By delivering attentive and personalized care, the CNA contributes significantly to the overall well‑being and recovery of patients. This role requires a strong commitment to patient advocacy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant training program.
  • Current and valid CNA certification/license in the state of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a healthcare or long‑term care setting.
  • Additional certifications such as First Aid or specialized patient care training.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Provide mobility assistance, including helping patients move safely and using medical equipment as needed.
  • Observe and report any changes in patients’ physical or emotional condition to nursing staff.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients by following infection control protocols.
  • Support patients emotionally by offering companionship and responding to their needs with empathy.
  • Assist nursing staff with medical procedures and documentation as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies at all times.
Skills:

The required skills enable the CNA to deliver high‑quality, hands‑on patient care by effectively assisting with daily living activities and monitoring patient health. Strong communication skills are essential for accurately reporting patient conditions and collaborating with healthcare team members. Attention to detail and observational skills help in identifying subtle changes in patient status that may require intervention. Preferred skills such as familiarity with electronic health records improve efficiency in documentation and information sharing.

Additionally, interpersonal skills foster a supportive and comforting environment for patients, enhancing their overall care experience.
