DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedics unit position requiring prior ortho and trauma nursing experience and EPIC proficiency.
Details- Work in the Orthopedics unit of a hospital environment
- Care for elective and trauma patients undergoing total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs, as well as ortho trauma cases
- Specialize in pre-op and post-op orthopedic care
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with possible stretch to 1:7
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- One holiday and one holiday-period evening shift required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Safe Patient Handling equipment and orthopedic equipment including CPM, Knee Immobilizer, and Bone Foam
- May float to any campus within the health system as needed
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior orthopedic and trauma nursing experience required
- Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not considered
- EPIC charting system experience required
- Trauma Level I or II hospital experience preferred
- Teaching hospital or community hospital experience preferred
- Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG competency exam during compliance (two attempts allowed)
- Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for orthopedic surgical and trauma patients
- Utilize Rapid Response Teams as needed for patient emergencies
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates within this radius will be considered
- RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application; post-submission RTO requests are not accepted
- Study materials for the EKG competency exam are not provided by the facility
