Description:
This position requires working three 12-hour shifts during the day. Every other weekend and holidays will be scheduled as needed. Floating to various units is required. Nurses will care for laboring patients with high acuity. Experience with administration of medications and management of maternal and neonatal complications is necessary. Skills include IV insertion, pain assessment, and resuscitation techniques. The nurse will assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and high-risk deliveries.
Knowledge of fetal heart rate monitoring and recognition of abnormal patterns is crucial. Support from interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services and pharmacy is available. A strong foundation in labor and delivery practices is essential. Additional skills in managing complex patient situations are beneficial.
