DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a hospital-based Infusion Center position requiring prior outpatient oncology experience and ONS/ONCC certification.
Details- Hospital-based Infusion Center within a Cancer Center setting
- Cares for patients with solid tumor cancers, lymphomas, chronic leukemia, iron deficiency, myelodysplastic syndrome, and neuro-oncology diagnoses
- Performs bone marrow aspirations, intravesicular chemotherapy for bladder cancer, and intrathecal chemotherapy
- Uses specialized equipment including Cyracom interpreter machine, blood warmer, Hoyer lift, vein finder, and ultrasound-guided IV machine
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule with variable 5x8 hour shifts (8:30a-5p, 9a-5:30p, or 9:30a-6p)
- EPIC EMR experience required
- May float to any campus within the health system as needed
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS and ONS/ONCC certifications required
- ACLS and OCN certifications preferred
- Previous infusion center and outpatient oncology experience required
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred
- EPIC charting system experience required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG compliance exam with up to two attempts allowed
- Extensive infusion and oncology skill set required, including IV therapy, port access/management, chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and management of oncologic emergencies
- Experience with psychosocial care, symptom management, and care coordination for oncology patients
- Provides direct infusion and chemotherapy care within an outpatient oncology setting
- Manages side effects and emergencies related to chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments
- Completes unit-based orientation modules (2-4 hours, non-billable) during onboarding
- No first-time travelers considered for this role
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local rates apply
- RTO requests must be submitted with the application; no post-submission RTO accepted
