Position Overview Primary Purpose of Position

The selected candidate for the Research Scientist position will assist the PI and Co-PIs in the implementation of all research and education activities associated with the new Interdisciplinary Biomedical Engineering Core ( IBEC ) facility at NC A& T. Inthis role, the Research Scientist will operate and maintain highend analytical instrumentation in the IBEC, facilitate training ofusers on the instruments, and assist users with the development of experimental workflow.

The College housesthe departments of Applied Engineering Technology, Biology, Built Environment, Chemistry, Computer Systems Technology, Mathematic sand Statistics, Physics, and the Ph.D. Program of Applied Science Technology.

The College is experiencing substantial growth in enrollment, faculty size, curricula, and research.

The Department of Biology’s core mission encompasses excellence in teaching, cutting-edge research, and meaningful service to both students and the broader community. The Department of Biology currently has 24 full-time faculty members to support the teaching and research needs of our undergraduate and graduate students. The undergraduate enrollment currently is over 835 Biology majors. TheMS graduate enrollment averages 15 students, and we train PhD students as part of the AST program in Applied Bioscience with an enrollment of 30 PhD students.

Minimum Requirements

A PhD in bioscience, genomics, biochemistry, or a related discipline.

A background in genomics and analytical biochemistryA strong publication record in relevant fields
* Experience developing experimental workflows, conducting bioanalytical research, and training users.
