We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Ecology Technician to support ongoing ecological monitoring projects in Ashe, Avery, and Watauga Counties. This is a hands‑on field and laboratory support role ideal for individuals with an interest in biology, ecology, entomology, or environmental science.

Job City & State:
Western NC
- Drive to field sites across Ashe, Avery, and Watauga Counties (mileage reimbursed).
- Collect and label armored‑scale infested foliage samples from designated locations.
- Perform microscopic insect counts using a provided microscope.
- Record data accurately and maintain sample integrity.
- Communicate findings and field conditions with project lead in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed protocols.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
- Strong attention to detail and data recording accuracy.
- Must have reliable personal transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and handle plant/insect materials.
Coursework or background in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field preferred but not required.
