Position Overview
The Temporary Public Safety Ambassador serves as a critical link between the University Community and the University Police Department, operating 24/7 to support campus operations. The role involves protective, security, enforcement, and public contact duties, working independently while reporting regularly to a supervisor.
Key Responsibilities and Competencies- Act as additional visual monitoring for the Police Department.
- Provide timely notifications to Command Staff for hazards, suspicious activity, or emergencies.
- Maintain accurate reports documenting services performed.
- Be approachable, proactive, and aware of individuals who appear lost or seek assistance.
- Offer the public accurate directions, information, and assistance to North Carolina A&T State University students, faculty, and visitors.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; college education preferred.
- Security or related experience is preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact cordially with a diverse community.
- Proficient in operating a portable radio and providing clear transmissions.
- Ability to assess situations quickly, accurately, and effectively.
- Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Reliable transportation and punctuality for all assigned shifts.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Strong, verifiable work history in customer service or similar roles.
- Clear background check, including criminal history and references.
- Maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance at all times.
- Physically capable of working in all weather conditions.
Title: Temporary Public Safety Ambassador
Work Hours: 20–25 hours per week (Part‑Time)
Salary Range: $12–$17 per hour
Appointment Type: Temporary – Full‑Time
