Temporary Public Safety Ambassadors Pool Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to provide an effective and efficient link between the University Community and the University Police Department’s operations and services 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This position provides protective, security, enforcement, and public contact work in support of campus operations. Positions at this level perform technical security and law‑enforcement work while working independently and reporting to a supervisor on a regular basis, demonstrating full knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to the work area.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as additional eyes and ears for the University Police Department.
- Provide timely notifications to Command Staff about hazards, suspicious persons or activity, and medical/other emergencies.
- Maintain reports for all services provided.
- Be approachable, proactive, and aware of persons who appear lost or seeking assistance.
- Provide the public with accurate directions, information, and assistance to North Carolina A&T State University students, faculty, and visitors.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college education or equivalent preferred.
- Security experience preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to interact cordially and communicate with a diverse community.
- Ability to operate a portable radio and provide clear transmissions.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to assess and evaluate situations quickly, accurately, and effectively.
- Must be able to accurately follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Must have reliable transportation and be punctual for assigned shifts.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a strong and verifiable work history with a focus on customer service positions.
- Must submit to a background check including criminal history and reference reviews.
- Must maintain a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance at all times.
- Must be physically able to work in all kinds of weather environments and scenarios.
Pay: $12 - $17 per hour.
Hours:
20–25 hours per week (Part‑time).
