Position Overview

The Pipefitter Lead / Foreman oversees installation, fabrication, and repair of piping systems in commercial and public facilities. This role includes supervising field personnel, coordinating daily tasks, ensuring safety compliance, and serving as a key representative of Southern Air on the jobsite.

This position requires advanced technical knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to lead by example.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional piping or pipe fitting experience
  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and P&
  • Ability to lead crews, delegate tasks, monitor progress, and maintain workflow
  • Experience preparing and installing large‑bore weld pipe
  • Deep knowledge of fitting take‑outs for screw and weld fittings
  • Proficiency with:
    • Carbon steel piping
    • Stainless steel piping & tubing
    • PVC and copper
    • Welded pipe systems
  • Must provide essential hand tools required for the trade
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with limited supervision
  • Must pass post‑offer drug screening and any required background checks
Leadership &

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily pipe fitting crew activities
  • Supervise field personnel and ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule
  • Interpret project drawings and communicate requirements to team members
  • Conduct quality checks, troubleshoot issues, and ensure all work meets project specifications
  • Assist with material take‑offs and verify proper supplies and tools are available
  • Provide hands‑on installation and welding support as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and enforce company safety policies
  • Communicate professionally with project managers, contractors, and clients
  • Train and mentor junior team members to support continuous skill development
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Frequent standing, climbing, kneeling, stooping, and crawling
  • Regular lifting of materials up to 50 pounds
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors, including varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Use of hand tools, power tools, and trade‑specific equipment
  • May involve extended driving or riding in a vehicle (2+ hours)
  • Work around standard construction materials and chemicals
