Electrical Helper – Home Standby Generators

Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Generator Installation / Field Operations
Pay Range: $18–$23 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Electrical Helper to join our home standby generator installation team. In this hands‑on field position, you will work alongside experienced Electrical Leads to install residential standby generator systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with basic electrical, construction, mechanical, HVAC, or other skilled‑trade experience who wants to develop their skills and build a career in the growing standby generator industry. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Electrical Leads with residential standby generator installations.
  • Help install generators, automatic transfer switches, load‑management equipment, disconnects, breakers, and related components.
  • Run conduit and assist with pulling and routing electrical and control wiring.
  • Prepare electrical panels and equipment for generator connections.
  • Assist with grounding, bonding, terminations, and other electrical work under the Electrical Lead’s direction.
  • Support generator startup, testing, and commissioning.
  • Load, unload, organize, and transport tools, equipment, and installation materials.
  • Keep tools, materials, work vehicles, and jobsites clean and organized.
  • Follow instructions from Electrical Leads and project leadership.
  • Follow applicable safety practices and installation procedures.
  • Interact professionally with homeowners, coworkers, and other trades.
  • Assist with jobsite cleanup and installation completion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Training and Career Growth

You do not need to know everything about generators on your first day. We are looking for someone who is dependable, follows direction, works hard, and wants to learn a skilled trade.

You will receive hands‑on experience working with home standby generators, automatic transfer switches, electrical wiring, conduit, and load‑management equipment. The right candidate will have opportunities to advance from Electrical Helper to experienced generator installer and take on greater responsibility within the installation team.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Electrical, construction, generator, HVAC, mechanical, or skilled‑trade experience is preferred but not required.
  • Basic familiarity with electrical tools and equipment is a plus.
  • Interest in learning residential electrical systems and standby generator installation.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Dependable, punctual, and prepared to work.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 50–75 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb, pull wire, and perform physically demanding work.
  • Ability to work outdoors throughout the year.
  • Ability to work safely around electrical equipment, generators, and active construction areas.
