Heavy Equipment Mechanic

• Multi‑functional position, incorporating mechanic duties on various pieces of machinery and operating equipment.

• Repair construction equipment: assembly, adjustments, maintenance, and welding on internal combustion engines, air compressors, pumps, heavy earth‑moving and paving equipment.
• Lubrication of oil, air and fuel filtration systems, grease points and capacities, and inspection techniques to detect abnormal conditions.
• Assist with overhauls of mechanisms that transfer horsepower to active effort.
• Assist with the overhaul of air‑cooled engines, starters, generators and voltage regulators.
• Repair and overhaul heavy equipment including crawler and wheel tractors, portable cranes, brooms, front‑end loaders, rollers, motor grades, compactors, pumps and air compressors.
• Work day, night, or out‑of‑town crews to perform field repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Weld and operate saws, grinders and presses.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment parts: catalogs, procurement, handling, storage and cost.
• Maintain attendance in line with company policy to ensure crew efficiency.
• Maintain courteous and professional manner with co‑workers, customers and the public.
• Flexible for last‑minute schedule changes, location shifts, shift times and overtime; out‑of‑town/state work may be required.
• Initiative to assist with other positions for job completion.
• Must pass drug test and criminal background check.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Must provide own tools.
• Three or more years of experience working on heavy equipment.
