The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is seeking a knowledgeable, dependable, and safety-focused Crew Supervisor (Water Maintenance) to lead and support field crews responsible for maintaining the City’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems. This position combines hands-on technical knowledge, sound judgment, and team leadership to help ensure critical infrastructure is maintained safely, efficiently, and reliably.

The Water Resources Department provides essential water and wastewater services that protect public health, support the community, and keep Greensboro’s critical infrastructure operating. Water Maintenance crews perform the hands-on work necessary to maintain, repair, rehabilitate, and improve the City’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

Estimated Hiring Salary Range: $53,903.00 - $61,603.00 Full Salary Range: $46,818.00 - $83,780.00 Annually

• Make Decisions in the Field: Exercise independent judgment and make routine decisions to keep work moving safely and efficiently.
• Put Safety First: Apply OSHA standards, confined-space practices, trenching and shoring requirements, and City procedures to protect your team.

As a Crew Supervisor (Water Maintenance), you will:

• Supervise and support crews performing maintenance, repair, renewal, replacement, and rehabilitation of the City’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems
  .
• Apply a strong working knowledge of the City’s Collection and Distribution systems to plan and complete assigned work.
• Oversee and perform work involving water and sewer taps, renewals, replacements, and rehabilitation of infrastructure.
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable safety standards, City policies, and established procedures.
• Apply knowledge of confined-space entry, trenching and shoring, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards within the scope of assigned duties.
• Make routine operational and field decisions without direct supervision while recognizing when issues require additional guidance.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, fellow employees, and crew members regarding work assignments, conditions, and operational needs.
• Promote safe work practices and ensure employees understand and follow applicable safety requirements.
• Help coordinate daily field activities and respond to changing work conditions and priorities.
• Work effectively in outdoor and field environments while supporting the reliable operation of essential water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Serve as service-critical personnel and report to work during inclement weather conditions as required.

• Valid Driver's license
• High School Diploma /GED
• 1+ years of experience working in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection systems.
• Grade B NC WTFO Distribution System, or Grade 2 NC AWWA Collection System ("or the ability to obtain within xxxx)
