Web Applications Engineer III, Java

Kaiser Permanente seeks a Web Applications Engineer III to design, build, and optimize Java-based web applications for our healthcare systems. You will develop secure, scalable services, integrate APIs, and improve performance for large member-facing platforms. Collaborate with product, UX, and Dev Ops in an agile environment, applying best practices in testing, code review, and CI/CD. Troubleshoot production issues, enhance reliability, and mentor junior engineers.

This role requires strong Java, web frameworks, cloud services, and database skills plus a focus on quality and user experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Java-based web applications and services for healthcare platforms.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with internal and third-party systems.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and security of member-facing web applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and Dev
• Ops engineers in an agile environment.
• Write unit, integration, and automated tests to ensure high code quality.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce engineering best practices and standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, improving stability and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical design discussions and documentation.
