What to know about the position:
Schutte Excavating, Inc. is located in Greensburg, IN. Our company has been steadily growing and is looking to expand our workforce. Schutte Excavating’s focus is on Community Development Block Grant Projects, Storm Sewer Projects, General Construction Management, Concrete Construction, and Site Development. We travel within a 60‑mile radius of Greensburg.
Current position:
Civil Construction Laborer(s). This role requires a minimum of 2 years of commercial construction experience and involves manual work with a willingness to learn. Responsibilities include rough carpentry, concrete work, operating hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support excavation sides, cleaning up rubble, debris, and other waste materials, assisting with installation of structures and site features, loading and unloading materials, and providing assistance to craft workers.
Physical demands may require the ability to lift heavy objects (25+ lbs), stand for long periods, and work in a variety of weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of commercial construction experience.
- Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work well in a team.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Prior experience with rough carpentry and concrete work is preferred.
Even better (but not required) if you have a Class A CDL.

- What is the typical schedule? Monday – Friday; 7:30 – 4:00 (start and end times may vary).
- What are some of the specific projects you do? We do commercial projects such as laying sewer and sanitary pipes, running water lines, concrete work (sidewalks, curbs, roads, decorative), moving dirt, and using GPS for grading.
- What do you do in the winter? We can still pour concrete in winter and there is plenty to do around the shop to keep people busy on slow days. We also use this time for training and development.
