Position: Deputy Sheriff, FT and PT positions, Sheriff's Office
Westmoreland County is seeking applicants for the position of Full Time and Part Time Deputy for the Westmoreland County Sheriff's Office.. The purpose of this position is to serve various court orders and maintain courtroom security. The following duties are normal for this position but are not to be construes as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned:

* Serve:
Civil writs, complaints, judgments, executions, subpoenas, court notices and criminal bench warrants

* Maintains courtroom and courthouse security; monitors holding cells; escorts witnesses, defendants, prisoners and other to and from the courtroom

* Transports prisoners to and from jails, mental health facilities, juvenile institutions and other facilities as needed

* Maintains records of cases involving prisoners, duplicates court orders involving prisoners

Minimum Training and Experience

* Applicants must be a high school graduate or equivalent

* Required to maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

* Must be Act 120 or Act 2 certified.

* 1 to 2 years criminal justice experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to operate equipment including a motor vehicle, firearms, restraining devices, radio and other communications equipment, etc

* Ability to operate a variety of office equipment

* Ability to maneuver objects weighing up to 150lbs

Language Skills and Interpersonal Communications:

* Ability to comprehend and interrupt a variety of documents including: court orders, civil writs, complaints, judgements, executions, subpoenas, State rules of civil procedure and other codes, etc

* Ability to prepare a variety of documents including Affidavits of Service, weapons confiscation inventory, etc, while using prescribed format and conforming to all the rules of punctuation, grammar diction and style

* Ability to use and interpret criminal justice terminology
