Position OverviewThis is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of various types of construction equipment. Candidates must have at least two years of experience operating a Loader in road construction projects, a quarry or an asphalt plant.
Responsibilities- Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
- Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance; refer major problems to supervisor.
- Apply knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
- Keep time and material records.
- Know aggregate sizes and classifications.
- Ensure weight requirements of loads leaving the pit are met.
- Travel from interstate highways to rural dirt roads as required.
- Be able to lift up to 30 pounds and perform walking, stooping, squatting, sitting and kneeling duties.
- Understand equipment and their uses.
- Apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying).
- Read tape measures and basic measurements.
- Minimum two years of loader operation experience in road construction, quarry, or asphalt plant environments.
- Knowledge of trenching, shoring, aggregate sizes, weight limits, and equipment usage.
- Ability to perform physical tasks up to 30 pounds and endure walking, stooping, squatting, sitting, kneeling.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
