ABM Operator

A Day In The Life

• Responsible for performing setup on ABM machines, including tooling changes and adjustments to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Responsible for operation of ABM machines, including loading bar stock, filling fluids, and removing chips.
• Responsible for conformance with quality specifications.
• Ability to troubleshoot machines and complete maintenance activities as needed.
• Ability to assist in training others on operation and setup of ABM machines.
• Track components and tools used on ABM machines (e.g., hydraulic fittings/hoses, motors, drill heads, hydraulic cylinders, saw blades, drills, taps).
• Assist with scheduling of machines by coordinating with planning/scheduling of production orders.
• Assist with training additional setup personnel.
• Operate machinery per requirements of print specifications, shop orders, and inspection charts.

• Mechanically inclined – good with tools and machinery and able to fix both familiar and unfamiliar items quickly.
• Mathematical skills – apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations to make machine adjustments.
• Reasoning ability – define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Computer skills – effectively use computer tools required for the job.
• Other skills and abilities – detail oriented, organized, driven to meet deadlines, and capable of working under pressure.
