Position Overview

The Hospice Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering compassionate, patient-centered care focused on pain management and symptom control for hospice patients, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, attending physicians, and family members.

• Assessing patient and family needs during home visits and documenting findings, interventions, and outcomes.
• Coordinating comprehensive hospice care, ensuring continuity across care settings and providers.
• Developing, reviewing, and updating patient care plans in collaboration with the team.
• Supervising hospice aides and licensed practical nurses to ensure quality care and proper documentation.
• Participating in on-call rotations for after-hours and holiday care, and supporting community education initiatives.
• Maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, documenting accurately, and supporting quality improvement activities.

• Current RN license in Alabama.
• At least one year of medical/surgical experience; hospice or home health experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and time management skills.
• Understanding of Medicare and Joint Commission standards.
• Valid Alabama driver’s license and automobile insurance.
