Job Description

Position:
English teacher in grades 6-12

Qualifications:

  • Valid Kentucky Teacher Certificate.
  • Experience and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based Reading and Writing instruction aligned with Kentucky Academic Standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs, learning styles, and abilities of all students, providing appropriate interventions and enrichment as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive classroom environment by implementing effective classroom management strategies that promote respect, responsibility, and student engagement.
  • Build meaningful, supportive relationships with students that foster trust, accountability, and academic growth while encouraging students to overcome barriers to success.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress, behavior, and academic achievement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, special education staff, and other support personnel to develop and implement strategies that promote student success.
  • Utilize student data to monitor progress, inform instruction, and provide timely interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance in accordance with district policies.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
  • Support the mission of the school by demonstrating flexibility, patience, and a commitment to meeting the unique needs of at-risk learners. Experience working with at-risk or alternative education students is preferred.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
