Job SummaryThe Design Engineer is responsible for design engineering activities.
Job Responsibilities- Designs, requisitions, and receives new tooling and machine details for product and processes at the Greenville Plant.
- Maintains product and tooling records (prints, specifications).
- Conducts quote review meetings for new products.
- Prepares tooling and material requirements for new quoted product. Assists Cost Accounting in developing quotes to be returned to Sales & Applications Engineering.
- Develops part data records, bills of materials, and process routings for new product introduced to the plant.
- Develops product prints (shop prints) and tooling prints. Maintains filing of these prints. Makes prints available to plant personnel via PLEX manufacturing software.
- Creates new work centers and operations in PLEX.
- Creates and maintains tool lists for each job in the plant (tool BOM).
- Works with Sales and customers to develop and implement packaging for new products or revise packaging for existing products.
- Maintains packaging instructions for the plant in PLEX.
- Assists tool room personnel with technical issues (prints, tolerances, materials, etc).
- Matches orders with prints and receives completed work orders from the tool room.
- Assists with launch of new product.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred. - Experience:
3-5 years in Engineering or related Manufacturing experience preferred. Experience with blueprint reading and measurements. - Requirements:
Strong computer skills (CAD, PLEX, MS Office, etc.), communication skills, ability to work well with customers, organizational skills.
