CNC Machinist – 2nd Shift | Greenville, MI
Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for a full-time second-shift opportunity in Greenville, Michigan. This is a hands-on machining role requiring experience with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC equipment, Mastercam/CAD/CAM, machine setup, blueprint interpretation, precision inspection, and CNC program troubleshooting.
The CNC Machinist sets up, adjusts, and operates large CNC machines to produce components requiring close tolerances and specific finish requirements. The machinist will work from part drawings, specifications, setup instructions, and operating instructions while using precision measuring equipment to verify quality throughout the machining process. This position requires a machinist who can produce pilot pieces for inspection, verify machine setups, make adjustments to correct variances, operate multiple machines, troubleshoot programming issues, and complete final inspection responsibilities under general supervision.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM. Fully on-site in Greenville, Michigan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, adjust, and operate large CNC machines
- Perform machining operations involving close tolerances and finish specifications
- Follow prescribed operational sequences
- Produce pilot pieces for inspection
- Check machine setups and make adjustments to correct variances
- Work from part drawings, specifications, setup instructions, and operating instructions
- Enter instructions into CNC equipment based on programmer specifications
- Set up CNC equipment with the correct attachments and tooling
- Operate and monitor multiple CNC machines simultaneously
- Troubleshoot machine programming issues
- Perform 3-axis CNC machining
- Perform 5-axis CNC machining
- Use Mastercam / CAD-CAM knowledge in CNC machining processes
- Collect data from blueprints, plans, work orders, and related documentation
- Complete inspection sheets accurately
- Use precision measuring instruments and devices during setup, operation, and inspection
- Perform final inspection under general supervision
- Support product quality, conformance, and performance throughout production
- Collaborate with engineers, management, and other team members
- Inspect and maintain CNC equipment
- Perform required PMP / preventive-maintenance duties
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and regulations
- Participate in and support the established Quality System
Precision Inspection:
Relevant inspection experience includes CMM familiarity / knowledge, calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, gage pins, inspection sheets, blueprint dimensions, close-tolerance machining, and final inspection.
Tooling
Experience:
Candidates should be familiar with common CNC tooling, including end mills, bullnose cutters, ballnose cutters, chamfer mills, drills, and related CNC tooling.
Quality & Team Environment:
The successful machinist will work as part of a production team, follow detailed work instructions, maintain strong attention to detail, and support established quality and safety standards throughout the manufacturing process.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED OR Equivalent Combination of Education and Experience
- 1–2 Years of Related CNC Machining Experience and/or Training
- Hands-On 3-Axis CNC Machining Experience
- Hands-On 5-Axis CNC Machining Experience
- Mastercam / CAD-CAM Knowledge
- CNC Machine Setup Experience
- Ability to Enter CNC Machine Instructions Based on Programmer Specifications
- CNC Programming Troubleshooting Experience
