Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Stepdown RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Greenville, North Carolina. You will provide care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical units, supporting a dedicated clinical team.
Required Qualifications- One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN
- Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
- Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification
- NIHSS Certification
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
A Stepdown Registered Nurse provides care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units, requiring frequent monitoring and specialized nursing interventions.
Essential Work Functions- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, focusing on cardiac care
- Prepare equipment and aid physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients
- Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisor or physician of patients’ cardiac status
- Respond to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies
- Document nursing history and physical assessments for assigned telemetry patients
- Initiate patient education plans focused on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients
- Maintain patient confidentiality and client privacy
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
- Handle frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure
- Work under close supervision occasionally, as well as independently
- Manage irregular activity schedules and maintain continuous concentration on details
- Possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
