Taft Family Ventures is seeking an experienced Accountant or Senior Accountant with a
strong background in multifamily property management accounting
to support a busy and growing residential portfolio. This in-house role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who understands the pace and complexity of multifamily operations, including property-level financial reporting, resident accounting activity, payables, receivables, reconciliations, and owner/lender reporting. The successful candidate will be organized, accurate, responsive, and comfortable working closely with property managers, regional leadership, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely and reliable accounting support.
Experience with Yardi, Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
- Managing property-level accounts payable and accounts receivable activity for a multifamily portfolio.
- Preparing and reviewing bank deposits, cash activity, security deposit activity, and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Preparing monthly financial statements, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance review for assigned properties.
- Working with property managers to research ledger issues, coding questions, resident balances, vendor invoices, and budget variances.
- Coordinating with outside CPA firms for year-end tax preparation, audit support, and related reporting needs.
- Maintaining accurate general ledger records and supporting month-end close for multiple multifamily communities.
- Recording and tracking escrows, replacement reserves, capital expenditures, depreciation, loan-related items, and owner contributions/distributions.
- Preparing owner, lender, and management reporting, including budget-to-actual analysis and portfolio-level accounting summaries.
- Assisting with annual budgets, audits, process improvements, acquisition/disposition support, and other multifamily accounting projects as assigned.
Qualified candidates should have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and at least 3 years of accounting experience in multifamily property management, real estate, or a related industry. Senior-level candidates should demonstrate strong general ledger knowledge, month-end close experience, property-level financial reporting skills, and the ability to manage accounting responsibilities for a busy multifamily portfolio with minimal supervision.
