Job Description
ECU Department of Student Life is currently seeking several Health Sciences Central Reservations Office Event Assistant Specialists. The Event Assistant Specialist position is a part-time position with clerical responsibilities that will work with and support the functions of the Health Sciences Student Center; including Office Assistants, Welcome Center Assistants, Event Assistants, and Central Reservations Office Assistants. Event assistant specialists are directly supervised by professional staff within the Department of Student Involvement & Leadership.
The Event Assistant Specialists are expected to fulfill the following general roles and responsibilities:
- Administrator
:
Complete all necessary paperwork, forms, tasks, and maintain logs as required. Attend scheduled shifts and know the staff manual protocols. - Customer Service
:
Acknowledge and greet students, staff, faculty, and University guests. The Event Assistant Specialist will understand and utilize campus resources and departmental functions to work with faculty, staff, students, and guests of the University to connect each to resources as appropriate and assisting in navigating through campus. Keep the supervisor informed. Help create a welcoming environment. - Clerical Aid
:
Be able to file records, maintain records/logs, answer telephone calls, and relay messages to the appropriate contact. Be able to operate common office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, calculators, and fax machines. - Set Ups for Event Assistants
:
Be able to read operations reports and complete all setups and break downs for events. Safely lift and arrange tables, chairs, and other items required for set up completion. Break down tables, chairs, and other items throughout the university’s student centers and Brody School of Medicine. - Security
:
Provide for the safety of patrons during events, enforce facility policies and capacity, deter theft, and be knowledgeable of emergency evacuation/lock down procedures. - Team Member
:
Attend all training sessions, support staff team, and help when needed. Maintain positive communication with staff and all Student Involvement & Leadership employees. - University Representative
:
Serve as a positive role model. Serve the needs of students, staff, faculty, and University guests. Be mindful of social media tags/posts and represent Student Involvement and Leadership as well as East Carolina University positively.

Applicant should be prepared to work at Brody School of Medicine and Health Sciences Student Center, in addition to Main Campus Student Centers.
GPA Requirement
GPA Requirement Minimum of 2.0
Applicants should be enrolled as a student and be in good academic standing with East Carolina University, as well as local, state, and federal laws. Additionally, candidates must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.00.
License/certification required
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a BACKGROUND CHECK . All offers of employment are conditional and subject to verification of background information, with satisfactory results required BEFORE THE START of the position.
